About Me

My photo
Architecture for Interiors is what I aim to design and make within my work. Inspiration taken from different shapes by using a variety of sources, i.e. maps and diagrams. I am also inspired by shapes in architecture. My work is based upon laser cutting mainly, forming shapes that can be constructed by slotting together. The structures may be used for sculptural and decorative purposes and some may have a function, whether it being an illuminated piece of furniture that becomes a lighting fixture or used as a wall covering. More recently i have been looking at movement within the structures.

Context

Here i have photoshopped some of the sculptures putting them into context such as lamps and lamp bases. I have also displayed them as decorative pieces of interior for the home.

Degree Show June 2010

I chose to display a selection of my best samples at my degree show, some hung from the ceiling and some on plinths, this was to enable the viewer to walk around each piece and get a closer look.

Movement.

A combination of coloured perspex, clear perspex and wood. With this idea i wanted to create a sense of movement, showing how the individual pieces move around the perspex pole which is holding each piece together.

Fruit Polo, anyone?

Slotting shapes onto a rod sounds so simple but proves to be effective. Here i have been experimenting with adding colour and changing and combining the thickness' of the material
.

Using the small people gives a sense of scale.
